4 Granny Smith apples (cubed) 1 lg. can crushed pineapple (in heavy syrup) drained and save juice 2 c. miniature marshmallows 1 1/2 c. cocktail peanuts 1 (8 oz.) Cool Whip 1/2 tbsp. vinegar 1/2 c. sugar 1 egg 1 tbsp. flour
Instructions
Mix together juice, 1/2 tablespoon vinegar, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 egg, and 1 tablespoon flour. Cook until mixture comes to a boil and is syrupy. Then strain to remove any lumps, then cool. Mix all ingredients and refrigerate 2 hours before serving.

This is really good! Funny how there are no real caramel type ingredients but it does have a taffy apple flavor. I think next time I will sub brown sugar for the white sugar and see how that tastes :) Also, I would recommend cooking the sauce ingredients on low. It takes a while, but you don't want to bring anything with egg to a boil to quickly or you'll end up with egg drop soup instead of sauce.
