Orange French Toast with Walnuts
4 eggs
1/3 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/3 cup margarine, melted
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
2/3 cup orange juice
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Italian bread cut in 1 inch slices
Instructions
Beat eggs, then beat in orange juice, milk, sugar, nutmeg and vanilla. Place bread in a single layer in casserole. Pour mixture over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Be sure casserole has a tight-fitting lid. Turn bread once before bed time. In the morning pour melted butter in a cookie sheet. Arrange soaked bread slices in a single layer on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake 20 to 25 minutes in 400 degree oven until golden brown. Serve with syrup and butter.
