Using a doll shaped cookie cutter, cut bread into doll shapes, or you can choose other shapes if you like. Save the bread trimmings for bread pudding or to dry out for bread crumbs.
In a medium mixing bowl, beat the eggs, milk and salt until well combined, not frothy. Dip bread shapes into egg mixture, coating boat sides, shake off the excess. Heat butter in a large skillet and saute the bread cut outs about 3 minutes on each side, or until golden.
Serve sprinkled with confectioner's sugar and syrup.
