Ann's Biscuits
2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp bream of tartar
2 tsp sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2/3 cup milk
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 450 F.
Sift together all dry ingredients. Cut in the shortening using two knives or a pasty blender. Pour in the milk and stir only until the dough follows the fork around the bowl. Knead gently for 30 seconds. Roll out dough to 1/2" thickness, use biscuit cutters for round, or a pizza cutter for square biscuits.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
