1/2 cup chopped onion 1 beaten egg 1-1/2 cups self-raising flour pinch salt 1 Tbsp poppy seeds 1 Tbsp butter 1/2 cup milk 1 Tbsp butter extra 1 cup grated cheese 2 Tbsp melted butter
Instructions
Cook onions in Tbsp butter until tender and lightly browned. Combine egg and milk. Sift flour and slat and rub in other butter. Stir the liquid into dry ingredients, making a light scone dough. Add onions and half the grated cheese. Divide dough into equal parts and knead each into a round. Place in greased muffin pans and sprinkle with other half degrees F cheese and poppy seeds. Drizzle the melted butter on tops. Bake 430 degrees F for 15 minutes until golden brown. Makes 12 muffins.
