Corn Sticks

1 egg
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 t. soda
1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. corn meal
1 t. sugar
3 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
1/4 c. soft shortening |

| Instructions |
| Heat oven to 450 degrees. Butter 12 muffin cups or corn stick pans.
Beat eggs. Beat in rest of ingredients just until smooth. Pour into hot pans until almost full. Bake 10-15 minutes.
