1 c. butter or margarine
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
Sweet chocolate bits
Chopped walnuts |

| Instructions |
| Cream butter and sugar. Add egg. Gradually add flour, vanilla, salt. Put in 8 x 13 inch pan, greased and floured. Spread evenly and sprinkle generously with sweet chocolate or milk chocolate bits and chopped nuts. (Butterscotch morsels may be added, if desired). Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Take out when skewer comes out clean. Wait 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
